Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the FilmScout Terms of Service. It describes what you may and may not do while using FilmScout. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account, removal of contributions, and legal action where appropriate.

1. Personal, household use

FilmScout is licensed for personal, non-commercial use within your own household. Within that scope, you may use FilmScout to inform your own family's viewing decisions, share occasional screenshots in personal communications, and submit requests or feedback to help improve the service.

2. Prohibited uses

You may not, and may not assist any other party to:

(a) Use FilmScout for any commercial purpose, including (without limitation) reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing FilmScout content to third parties; embedding FilmScout data into another product or service; or using FilmScout to provide a paid service of any kind. Commercial use is permitted only under a separate written licence from us. See §3 below.
(b) Scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise extract FilmScout content using automated means, except as expressly permitted by our robots.txt file.
(c) Bypass, disable, or interfere with security or rate-limiting features of FilmScout.
(d) Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of FilmScout, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
(e) Submit user contributions (requests, feedback, and other input) that are knowingly false, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that infringe the rights of any third party.
(f) Use FilmScout to defame any person, group, or entity, including by submitting falsified or misleading contributions.
(g) Impersonate another person or entity, including a FilmScout moderator or employee.
(h) Create multiple accounts to evade suspensions, abuse free tiers, or manipulate community contribution data.
(i) Use FilmScout in any way that violates applicable law or the rights of any third party.

3. Commercial-use licensing

If you wish to use FilmScout's data, scene timestamps, or other content for a commercial purpose (including but not limited to integration into educational platforms, parental-control products, content-rating tools, or research products), please contact us at [email protected]. Commercial licensing is available on commercially reasonable terms. Use of FilmScout for any commercial purpose without a written licence from us is prohibited.

4. Reporting abuse

If you encounter content or behaviour on FilmScout that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to [email protected]. We review reports promptly and may take action including content removal, warnings, suspension, or account termination.

5. Enforcement

We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to investigate, remove, or restrict access to any content or account at any time, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe a violation of this Acceptable Use Policy has occurred or is likely to occur. Decisions are at our sole discretion and final.

6. Changes

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted at the top of this page with a clear effective date.
